Scientist/Senior Scientist

S.C. Johnson - A Family Company is looking for a Scientist/Senior Scientist.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing new techniques for measuring odors, active ingredients and other airborne particles/chemicals.
  • Constructing the apparatus to support experiments utilizing SC Johnson airborne products.
  • Development of intellectual property positions for SC Johnson
  • Presentation of program results to and interaction with upper management at SC Johnson
  • Maintenance of analytical equipment
  • Performing various analyses in addition to those related to the air sampling program as an analytical chemist.
  • Working closely with business unit clients to insure the program meets business needs
  • Meeting project milestones

This position will play a key role in a program in Analytical Product Research to measure and understand the performance of our airborne products, primarily in Air Care and Pest Control. Program results should lead to new products, improved formulas and new product claims for product lines of significant business interest to the company. The successful candidate will be working directly with other PhD chemists and technicians on the project. In addition to the air sampling effort, the individual will perform additional product analyses on an as needed basis so a solid background in analytical chemistry is required.

Job Requirements:

  1. PhD Analytical Chemistry
  2. Knowledge of adsorption and absorption of VOC’s and SVOC’s from gas phase to surfaces
  3. Capability of conducting trace analysis of airborne samples.
  4. Good analytical chemistry laboratory skills
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  6. Strong problem analysis and problem solving skills.
  7. High level of initiative and the ability to work independently
  8. Strong team and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  1. 2 years minimum experience in environmental air sample analysis
  2. Experience with air sampling methods and trace analysis of airborne volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds
